Most people immediately pull out dandelions when they grow in their lawn because they suck up tons of nutrients other plants and quickly push out the grass. However, although they are a nuisance; I think they are pretty. I love their color and also the “puff” they become that call to us to make a wish.
So while we protect our lawn from them, the house next door to me has been vacant for some time and every spring their yard becomes a garden of dandelions. Call me crazy, but for some time now, I have been wanting to photograph it.
Last year I was all work and no play. I didn’t photograph anything for fun. I decided not to do that again this year. It’s important for every photographer to do projects for themselves. It keeps the creative juices flowing and keeps this career from becoming a job. My beautiful neighbor Lauren agreed to be my model for a few minutes. Here are a couple of the shots I captured that day. Now I can say that I brightened up a weedy yard by adding a beautiful young girl to it. She was such a pleasure to work with, that you will probably see her in many future shoots. Thank you Lauren.
