District 204 & district 203 special needs elementary & middle school students were invited to participate in the annual Special Survivor Games on Friday, March 18, 2016. The event was held at Peterson Elementary School in Naperville and hosted by Petersons PTA.
Special Survivor Games started 4 years ago by a compassionate young lady, Marissa Kucharski and her mother Kristen. It has become a popular event in the area and is something for the kids and their families to look forward to every year. The games are organized in a relay style fashion where each child along with their peer buddies have a great time accomplishing a number of different challenges.
VAP was invited to take the photographs of the event for a second year. Due to the flu bug, I myself was not able to attend but I am blessed enough to have my son, Nik Adams from Neuqua Valley High School & one of my class of 2017 Senior Ambassadors, Rachel Irwin from Downers Grove South High School volunteer their time and talent to capture beautiful and fun moments for the families to view, share and download.
I find it beautiful to see programs like this organized and run by students. It warms my heart to know that these young adults are going to be our future leaders. It brings one of my favorite scriptures to mind… Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
If you or your child was a part of the event, you should have received an email from Marissa or Kristen that included a password to the gallery.
