I was warned! As a young mother everyone told me to be sure to enjoy every moment with my children because they grow up so fast. Proudly, I can say that I took that advice. I did enjoy every moment with my boys. Toddler years were fun. Grade school years were proud. Middle school years were adventurous and high school years was when I feel like a started a friendship with them. Loosened my grip – if you will. It’s really hard for me to believe that I am the mother of two men in college. So for those of you reading this with younger kids, I share the advice I was given – “enjoy every moment with your children because they grow up fast”.
This past weekend, my youngest went to prom. He will be graduating from Neuqua Valley High School in a few days. Prom was held at Drury Lane in Oak Brook, IL. There were seven couples in his group. According to the news that morning, as long as we took pictures before 7 we were clear from rain. So, at 5 p.m. everyone met at Phillips Park Zoo in Aurora, IL. The girls looked stunning in their gowns and the guys looked dashing in their tuxedos. They were all so excited and feeling great. We started to take some group pictures and I was eager to photograph everyone individually and as couples. Less then ten minutes into it, it started to rain. Everyone ran to a nearby gazebo to take cover. I was only able to get a few images before the rain came. I put my camera away to avoid damage and (against every fiber in my body) I took a few with my cell phone. We made the best of it and all 14 of them piled in and took more photos while they waited for the limo to arrive.
Here are a few of the pictures we took.

Congratulations to all of you who are graduating. Remember to call your mother often, be safe, & focus on the things that are important.
